Former Lady Volcanoes team captain Acee San Juan tapped as ambassador for Asia Rugby

Acee San Juan, the former team captain of the Philippine women's rugby team, has been tapped as an ambassador for the Asia Rugby's The Unstoppables campaign.

According to a release from the Philippine Rugby Football Union, San Juan was one of 84 nominees who were then trimmed into 16 final representatives for the region.

San Juan said she is honored to be an ambassador of the campaign, which is aligned with the International Women's Month this March.

"I'm looking forward to encouraging more females to get involved and enjoy the sport, whether as a player, coach, match official, administrator, supporter—not just in the Philippines but across Asia as well," she said.

"Rugby has given me so much in life and helped me develop to the person I am now, and I am excited to share these experiences to the wider rugby family," she added.

San Juan was the team captain of the Lady Volcanoes from 2014 to 2017. She led the squad to its first ever bronze medal finish in the 2015 Southeast Asian Games.

She is currently serving as a development manager for Philippine Rugby.
