Rolando Dy quits on his stool in title eliminator at Brave CF 47

Filipino mixed martial artist Rolando Dy suffered yet another setback in his career after he was made to retire on his stool after a two-round beatdown in a lightweight title eliminator against Abdisalam Kubanychbek at Brave CF 47 this Friday midnight in Bahrain.

The ex-UFC fighter started the contest with strikes to the head and body but Kubanychbek stood his ground, exchanged strikes, and pressured the Filipino in return.

Dy, the son of retired WBC world super featherweight champion Rolando Navarrete, tried to land a counter-left hook throughout the round but Kubanychbek scored a takedown then pinned the Filipino to the side of the cage where he unleashed punches to the head.

Kubanychbek looked confident in round two as he landed clean hard shots at Dy. They eventually got to the ground where Dy was given a mauling as he looked helpless on his back until the end of the stanza.

Dy, who previously stated that he would rather die than quit, walked back to his corner, refused to take his mouthpiece, shook his head then waved the white flag before the start of round three.

The loss snapped Dy’s two-bout winning streak, dropping his record to 14-10-1 while Kubanychbek improved to 18-3. – RC, GMA News
