Everingham caps off over 10 years of service for Philippine Volcanoes
It's the end of an era for Philippine Rugby and Chris Everingham.
The Fil-Australian veteran of the Philippine Volcanoes will soon be returning Down Under with his wife, putting an end to a colorful 10-year run in the country.
Philippine Rugby CEO Jake Letts bared the development through a press release on Tuesday.
"Chris will officially leave our shores in mid-May, and we want to thank him for all his services and time for Philippine Rugby," Letts said.
"He has been instrumental as part of our National Teams support staff, as well as a former national player. His contributions have helped shaped numerous accolades for the Volcanoes, he will surely be missed," he added.
Everingham is a key cog in rugby's significant growth in the Philippines for the good part of the last decade.
A native of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia, Everingham made his debut in 2010 and suited up in 17 international tournaments for the country's 7s program.
In his post-playing career, Everingham remained behind the scenes and became part of the Philippine Rugby's National Team Management Staff, where he was assigned to oversee the strength and conditioning program and performance preparation.
He earned a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Newcastle and also studied Personal and Group Fitness at Hunter TAFE.
"Philippine Rugby has been one of the sporting vehicles that showed me the world. It gave me the great hero's journey and crafted who I am," said Everingham.
"From player, to coach, to manager, it's been a complete journey and for this, I am grateful. I want to acknowledge those individuals in the community who planted the Philippine Rugby tree before us so we could all bear its fruit today," he added.
