Pinoy duo upsets US pair in World Cup of Pool, advances to quarters
The Philippines pulled off an upset against the United States in the second round of the World Cup of Pool on Wednesday in the United Kingdom.
Down 0-5, the duo of Jeff De Luna and Roberto Gomez won seven consecutive racks to complete the come-from-behind victory against the pair of Skyler Woodward and Billy Thorpe and enter the competition's quarterfinals.
The Filipino pair will face Estonian duo Denis Grabe and Mark Magi in the quarters.
The Philippines previously bagged the title from the said tournament three times. The tandem of Efren "Bata" Reyes and Django Bustamante won in 2006 and 2009, while Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza won in 2013.
