Alex Eala falls short in first pro doubles finals
Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala settled for a runner-up finish after she and Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva fell short in the final round of the women's doubles of the W25 Platja D'Aro tournament in Spain on Saturday.
Eala and Selekhmeteva were defeated by the duo of Lithuania's Justina Mikulskyte and Romania's Oana Georgeta Simion, 6-3, 7-5 to win the title.
The tournament winners will get a prize money of $25,000.
This is Eala's first professional venture into the doubles scene.
In her singles tournament in Platja D'Aro, the 15-year old ended her campaign early as she lost to Spain's Irene Burillo Escorihuela in the second round.
Prior to Platja D'Aro, Eala last competed in the W60 Bellinzona last April, where she reached the third round.
Eala bagged her first pro title early this year in W15 Manacor. – RC, GMA News
