CSB advances in NCAA Season 96 juniors online chess tourney
The College of St. Benilde-La Salle Green Hills is now through to the next round of the NCAA Season 96 online chess tournament.
CSB-LSGH greenies' Mel George Faitriz Cadano defeated Yureeh Panganiban of the Mapua University in the elimination round of the juniors chess meet Wednesday.
With the victory, Cadano will now advance to the Round of 16 while Panganiban has formally ended his campaign owing to the knockout system of the competition.
Cadano will also join Christian Mark Daluz of host Colegio de San Juan de Letran who trounced Gal Brien Palasigue of the San Beda University Red Woodpushers on Tuesday.
Aside from Cadano and Daluz, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA's (UPHSD) Jerome Angelo Aragones and Ronald Canino will also advance to the Round of 16 after defeating Letran's Eivan Jacob Cruz and CSB-LSGH's Joel Iñigo Beltran, respectively.
Arellano University's Jasper Faeldonia will also proceed to the next round after winning over MU's Miguel Yvan Sionson.
After the Round of 16, players will battle it out in the quarterfinals then onto the semifinals. Winners of the semis round advance to the finals while the losers will duke it out for the bronze.
