Miesha Tate comes back from long layoff to beat Marion Reneau via TKO

Former Strikeforce and UFC women’s bantamweight world champion Miesha Tate is back with a bang following a third-round technical knockout over Marion Reneau in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Makhachev vs. Moises this Sunday at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Tate, 34, last saw action in November 2016 but looked sharp and equipped with improved striking throughout the fight. Be it on the ground or the feet, the former champion looked one step ahead of Reneau, who landed shots here and there.

A series of unanswered punches to the head from Tate while pinned to the side of the cage prompted the referee to wave the fight, ending the match via TKO at the 1:53 mark of round three. The win improved Tate’s record to 19-7 while Reneau retired after the fight with a 9-8-1 record.
