Kurt Barbosa vows to continue fighting as Olympics stint comes to an end


Filipino taekwondo jin Kurt Barbosa vowed to continue fighting and trying after his his stint in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics came to an end on Saturday.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Barbosa thanked those who supported him in his Olympic journey.

"I am giving my gratitude to those people who supported me in my whole journey, for praying and believing that I can," the 22-year old jin said.

"Thank you also for choosing me to be one of the athletes who will represent our country," he added.

The young Barbosa shared that this might not be the right time, "but I promise that I won't stop fighting and trying because I believe that losing is part of the game and it is where we learn and get the courage to fight again."

"We are just getting started, I will surely apply all of my experiences to my next games and I hope you are all still with me until we get that victory," he added.

 

 

"Sa mahal kong Pilipinas, ikinararangal kong dalhin ang pangalan mo sa isang malaking patimpalak, hanggang sa muli. HINDI AKO SUSUKO. Salamat mga kababayan, babawi tayo, tiwala lang."

Barbosa fell against top-seeded Jang Jun of South Korea in the Round of 16 of the men's 58-kg event.

He had the chance to be classified under repechage, but Jang failed to reach the event's finals.
