Margielyn Didal ends Olympics campaign with seventh place finish in street skate finals

Margielyn Didal fell short of a medal in the women's street skateboarding event of Tokyo Olympics Monday at the Ariake Park Skateboarding.

She finished seventh among eight competitors in the finals stage, where 13-year-old Momiji Nishiya of Japan reigned supreme for the gold medal while Rayssa Leal of Brazil snared the silver.

Another Japanese skater in Funa Nakayama, meanwhile, settled for bronze.

Didal, who currently ranks 17th in the world, was unable to land her first, third and fourth tricks but scored 2.97 in her second.

She had the chance to close out her campaign in her fifth and final trick but she was not able to complete it as well. Her final score was 7.52.

Earlier, she ranked seventh in the preliminary heats, with a total score of 12.02, to punch a ticket to the finals.
