Alex Eala comes back from early deficit to beat Argentinian foe in rousing WTA $250k debut

Alex Eala was nothing but impressive in her maiden WTA main draw debut.

The Filipina teen tennis sensation made easy work of Argentina's Paula Ormaechea, 7-5, 6-2, in the Round of 32 of the women's singles event of the Cluj-Napoca Winners Open in Romania on Tuesday.

Eala had a slow start and found herself staring at an early deficit of 0-4. She quickly tweaked her game plan to tie the game at four games apiece in the opening set.

The 16-year-old netter managed to bring the game to 5-5 and eventually took the first set with crucial serves.

Eala, who is currently at no. 639 in the WTA ranking, rode her momentum going into the second set. She quickly dispatched Ormaechea, who is 12 years her senior.

Eala will next face WTA no. 119 Mayar Sherif of Egypt in the Round of 16 on Thursday.
