Alex Eala exits ITF W25 qualifying draw in Belgium with loss to American foe

The Philippines' Alex Eala will not move forward to the main draw after bowing to Taylor Ng of USA  in the second round of International Tennis Federation's W25 Koksijde qualifying draw in Belgium on Monday night (Manila time).

The Filipina teen tennis sensation won a set but ultimately fell to the American netter, 3-6, 6-4, 9-11, to formally bow out of the tournament.

Eala, who currently ranks no. 505 in the WTA, committed five double faults against the one of Ng, who is 10 years older than the Pinay netter.

In the first round on Sunday night, meanwhile, Eala was quick to dispatch Uzbekistan's Sevil Yuldasheva, 6-0, 6-1, despite listing eight double faults and struggling on her serve.

Eala, 16, scooped her second juniors Grand Slam title after topping the 2021 French Open with Russian partner Oksana Selekhmeteva.
