Smart Omega recovers from Week 1 woes with sweep of RSG

Smart Omega finally barged into the win column and in impressive fashion with a 2-0 sweep of newcomer RSG Philippines in the the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 on Friday.

Omega, whose roster is composed of the former mainstays of Execration, was reeling from two losses in Week 1 despite their core's recent success in the 2021 MLBB Southeast Asian Cup. But they made sure that they stamped their class this time.

RSG looked to have settled down in the league with an early 2-0 exchange in the 3rd minute that led to a turtle take and went on to control the tempo of the match.

But Omega stayed true to their late game kings tag as they banked on a resurgent 19th minute 2-0 takedown to secure the luminous lord and march onto the RSG base turret.

John Cedrix “Demonkite” Caranto (Lancelot) scored a double kill in the ensuing defensive stand to push back Omega but a 26th minute clash in the lord zone won by Omega enabled the Southeast Asian Kings to complete a Game 1 comeback victory.

Omega then held a slim gold lead in the midgame of Game 2 but RSG turned the tables in the 17th minute courtesy of a 4-2 salvo that pushed Southeast Asian kings on the brink of defeat.

Omega was not to be outdone though as they stuck to their winning conditions and secured the luminous lord in the 18th minute leading to the sweep of the series. They fell behind by as much as 5-13 in the kill tally and ended with a 7-15 kill deficit.
