Denice Zamboanga suffers first loss at ONE: Empower

Filipina MMA prospect Denice Zamboanga suffered the first loss of her mixed martial arts career against former UFC fighter Seo Hee Ham in the co-main event of ONE: Empower this Friday evening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Seo struck early by landing a straight left hand on top in the opening seconds of round one.

Zamboanga then closed the distance, pinned Seo against the cage then scored strikes from there.

Seo landed her patented left some more in round two.

Zamboanga circled the cage throwing jabs but missed just about every power shot she threw.

The Filipina then scored a takedown, tied the legs, only to see the Korean get back on her feet.

Once on their feet, Zamboanga controlled the tempo once again by pinning the South Korean to the side of the cage. Seo did the same in round three, gauging her opponent with her right hand then throwing a left straight here and there.

An accidental clash of heads opened a huge cut on Zamboanga's forehead but as soon as the fight continued, Zamboanga slammed her foe to the mat and unleashed ground and pound from there.

Two of three judges saw the fight for Seo, improving her record to 24-8 while Zamboanga dropped to 8-1. -- BAP, GMA News
