RSG slays another giant, hands Onic first loss in MPL PH S8
RSG Philippines kept the surprises coming as they took down another league powerhouse with a 2-1 win against erstwhile unbeaten Onic Philippines in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines elimination round on Saturday.
It was the first loss for Onic after taking 4 straight wins, including three sweeps, to start the season.
Nathanael “Nathzz” Estrologo (Thamuz) provided the early game aggression for RSG courtesy of a 3-0-1 KDA providing the MPL newcomers with some breathing room against Onic.
But a comeback came knocking for Onic as they successfully fended off a pivotal base turret push in the 17th minute owing to double kills from Nowee “Ryota” Macasa (Phoveus) and Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol (Hayabusa).
RSG, though, was not to be outdone as they kept their composure and secured the luminous lord in the 21st minute to finally take Game 1.
The roles switched in Game 2 as Onic this time pulled ahead early on, posting a 3k gold lead in the 7th minute with a 5-1 kill lead spearheaded by Kairi (Hayabusa) and Ryota's (Esmeralda) 1-0-2 KDAs.
RSG then displayed outstanding resilience as they successfully defended a base turret push in the 14th minute as they scored a 3-0 counter to not only survive but also equalize in map control.
Onic had to clutch a 3-2 clash in the 24th minute to take the luminous lord and finally take down RSG for the series equalizer. Ryota was perfect with a 6-0-3 KDA.
RSG then unleashed a surprising Paquito core pick in Game 3 that proved effective from the get go.
They cruised to a Game 3 win owing to Demonkite's (Paquito) 9-1-3 KDA.
