Blacklist takes 8th straight win at the expense of Echo
Blacklist International sustained their lethal form en route to scoring a 2-0 sweep of Echo in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 elimination round on Saturday.
The win upped their point total to 20 as they nabbed their 8th consecutive win. Their only losses dating back from Season 7 were from Bren Esports during the regular season and a finals loss to Execration in the MLBB Southeast Asian Cup 2021.
After an arduous Game 1 early game that saw first blood being registered in the 7th minute, Echo started to pull ahead in the 11th minute with a 3-1 exchange and a lord take but Edward Jay “Edward.” Dapadap (Benedetta) caught an out of position Mark “Hadess” Lazaro (Claude) in the 14th minute that touched off a 3-0 wipe plus the Luminous lord.
Echo was able to hold on, even scoring a 3-1 conversion in the 21st minute only for Danerie James “Wise.” Del Rosario (Granger) to steal the luminous lord as Blacklist dodged a crucial bullet.
Kiel “OHEB” Soriano (Alice), who finished with a 6-0-8 KDA, then led the late game close out for Blacklist as he spearheaded a 2-0 wipe in the 25th minute, 1-0.
The storyline was the same in Game 2 as both teams engaged in a nip-and-tuck affair until the defending champs forced a 3-1 exchange in the 14th minute, securing the lord and taking down an inhibitor turret to establish some breathing room.
Blacklist then scored a crucial pick-off on Hadess (Harley) in the 18th minute to secure another luminous lord and complete the sweep.
Echo stayed in 4th place in the standings with 11pts on a 3-5 win-loss card.
