'Kingslayer' RSG takes down Southeast Asian champ Omega
RSG Philippines slayed another heavyweight with a 2-0 conquest of Omega Esports in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 elimination round on Sunday.
The list of giants conquered by RSG already includes M2 World Champions Bren Esports and two-time MPL Champs Echo. They also handed erstwhile unbeaten Onic Philippines their first loss this season on the way to accumulating 14 points for third place halfway through the season.
RSG came out firing in Game 1 as they posted a monstrous 8-0 by the 8th minute along with a 3k gold lead.
Duane "Kelra" Pillas (Alice) tried to mount a comeback in the midgame as Omega looked to equalize courtesy of pickoffs and narrowed a 6k gold deficit to 2k.
It was not until a 4-1 takedown in 23rd minute that RSG was able to finish off the pesky Omega squad to take the lead, 1-0.
The game tempo was similar in Game 2 as RSG zoomed to an early lead with a 3-0 wipe in the 2nd minute plus a turtle take.
Omega just didn't have any answer this time as they succumbed to the MPL rookies in just 13 minutes.
John Cedrix "Demonkite" Caranto (Ling) was a dominant force with his 6-0-8 KDA to lead RSG's 14-3 kill spread.
It was the sixth loss in eight games for Omega, to remain with just nine points.
