Julian Macaraeg makes early exit in ISU World Cup Short Track men's 500m

Short track speed skater Julian Macaraeg bowed out early in the men's 500-meter event of the ISU World Cup Short Track held on Thursday in Beijing, China.

The Philippine representative registered 1:06.351 minutes to finish last in Heat 9 of the preliminary round of the said event.

Only the top two skaters and a maximum of six fastest third placers will advance to the main heats round of the competition.

Earlier, Macaraeg bowed out of the 1500-meter event after finishing last in his group during the heats.

He will still compete in the 1000-meter event on Friday.

Macaraeg needs to finish in the top 32 overall of the 500m and 1000m events and top 36 of the 1500m event at the end of the ISU World Cup series to book a slot in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
