Julian Macaraeg falls short in men's 1000m of ISU World Cup Short Track
Julian Macaraeg wrapped up the first part of the 2021-2022 ISU Short Track Speed Skating World Cup as he bowed out in the men's 1000m held on Friday in Beijing, China.
The 18-year-old Filipino-American ice skater clocked in at 1:27.803 minutes to finish third in Heat 10 of the preliminary round, where only the top two participants will advance to the next round.
Macaraeg has competed in a total of three events in the tournament, registering 2:27.362 in 1500m and 1:06.351 in 500m, both of which were not enough to move to the next level.
Macaraeg is expected to compete in the next three parts of the World Cup, with the second set to take place in Japan in late October, the third in Hungary in mid-November, and the final phase in Netherlands in late November.
The World Cup competitions serve as qualifiers for the Olympic Winter Games.
