Blacklist International takes 2nd consecutive MPL PH title

Blacklist International only dropped one game in the grand finals before displaying a dominant performance en route to a 4-1 conquest of Onic Philippines to take the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 8 championship on Sunday.

The Bonn Chan-mentored squad completed a dominant season that saw them suffer from only two losses, one regular season loss to Onic and another to Omega Esports in the playoffs.

The triumphant Season 8 conquest made Blacklist only the second team in MPL history to take back-to-back titles after Sunsparks did it in Season 4 and 5.

Despite Blacklist leading for most of Game 1, Onic held on and caught an out of position Danerie James “Wise” Del Rosario in the botlane in the 10th minute that resulted to a 3-1 exchange plus the luminous lord to balance out the game once again.

Blacklist needed to come out on top of a 23rd base turret aggression to finally take the opening win, 1-0.

Onic was not to be outdone though as they leaned on Marky “Markyyyy” Capacio's (Natan) heroics in the 20th minute of Game 2 as his triple kill led to a 4-1 exchange that turned out to be the equalizer, 1-1.

Blacklist then secured Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna's Mathilda pick in Game 3 that became crucial in the early game as OhMyV33nus scored a 5-0-0 KDA by the 6th minute, helping Blacklist take a 3k gold lead.

The defending champs proved steady down the stretch and scored a 14th minute wipe out to go up, 2-0.

Blacklist then completed a superbly dominant Game 4 performance with a 17-0 kill rampage and finished the match in just 11mins.

OhMyV33nus (Mathilda) led the way with a 3-0-10 KDA complemented by Salic “HAD JI” Imam's (Paquito) 5-0-7 KDA.

The Season 7 champs continued their rampage in Game 5 and imposed themselves from the get go, taking a 4k gold lead by the 8th minute after a 3-0 wipe.

Another 4-1 takedown in the 10th minute was the final decisive clash needed by Blacklist to take the title for the second straight season.
