Kevin Belingon in a must-win fight at ONE: Winter Warriors II

Former ONE bantamweight world champion Kevin Belingon feels that he is in a must-win bout when he takes on South Korea’s Kwon Won Il at ONE: Winter Warriors II on December 17 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

“This is a very important fight for me because I am coming off three consecutive defeats. I have to win this fight to keep my top 2 spot in the ranking. That way another world title shot is within reach,” said Belingon.

Kwon, notoriously known for his monstrous right hand, is coming off back-to-back wins by way of technical knockout. Though Belingon acknowledges that he has a dangerous opponent in front of him, he is also convinced that he is a better striker than the South Korean.

“We have a good game plan for this fight which I think will be effective. I am confident about it and I am confident that I am going to win this fight,” Belingon stated.

“I think I am the better striker because I have more weapons in my arsenal. I have a better spinning back kick. I think I can absorb his punches. Though of course, we have to avoid those just to be sure. I have to dodge his right hand.”

Eager not to let the fight go to the judges’ scorecards, Belingon says that he is even ready to take the fight to the ground and go for a submission should the opening present itself.

“We will also go to the body and part of the plan is to take this fight to the ground. I want to win this fight by either knockout or submission.”
