Jarred Brooks submits Lito Adiwang on ONE: NextGen III; Catalan falls to Silva anew

Jarred Brooks made an impressive ONE Championship debut following a second-round submission over Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang in the main event of ONE: NextGen III this Friday evening at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

It was clear from the get-go that the highly touted ex-UFC fighter wanted the bout on the mat as he shot for a takedown in the opening minute of round one. While on the canvas, Brooks worked on scoring elbows at Adiwang as the latter focused on getting the fight back on their feet.

Adiwang was able to escape Brooks’ groundwork before the round ended which forced the American to exchange strikes with him. Brooks however did the same the next round and was able to lock an arm-triangle choke that forced the Filipino to tap at the 3:07 mark of round two.

The win moved Brooks’ professional mixed martial arts record to 17-2 while Adiwang dropped to 13-4.

On the undercard, Rene Catalan suffered another submission loss against the former ONE strawweight world champion Alex Silva.

The pair previously fought in 2013 where Silva won via armbar in round one. He used the same submission to beat Catalan again in the first round of their rematch eight years later in Singapore.
