Alex Eala wraps up season with quarterfinals finish in Orange Bowl doubles

Alex Eala has concluded her last run of the season with a quarterfinal exit in the 2021 Junior Orange Bowl Tennis Championship girls' doubles event on early Saturday (Manila time) in Plantation, Florida.

The Filipina teen tennis sensation and Argentinian partner Solana Sierra fell to Swiss Chelsea Fontenel and American Qavia Lopez, 3-6, 7-5, 10-2, to formally bow out of contention.

Prior to the doubles exit, Eala also bowed out in the girls' singles category after getting booted by Kristyna Tomajkova of Czech Republic, 6-3, 6-3, last Thursday.

The tournament marked Eala's final match of the year following nonstop competitions that saw her compete in various major tournaments including the Wimbledon and US Open.

After concluding her season, Eala is now setting her sights to more competitions.

"I completed my 2021 Tournament season today with a Quarter Finals finish in Doubles of the Junior Orange Bowl," she said in a Facebook post. "Thank you to all of you for always virtually cheering me on.  Next up - Pre-Season Training for 2022."
