Dlarskie, Onic PH want chance to settle old scores with RRQ Hoshi in M3 playoffs
SINGAPORE—If Onic Philippines would have it its way, it would prefer to face RRQ Hoshi in the upper bracket playoff of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 World Championship here.
The Filipinos made quick work of hometown bet RSG Singapore in their playoff meeting on Sunday, sweeping the hosts, 3-0, to reach the upper bracket semis where they will face either RRQ Hoshi of Indonesia or Todak of Malaysia.
Both of these teams are considered as title contenders in the ongoing tournament. But the Filipinos shared that a meeting with RRQ is something they would like.
"The team I would want to face next is RRQ," Gerald "Dlarskie" Trinchera said in Filipino during the post-game interview.
"Because they were the ones who defeated us during the MPL Invitational and we want to have our revenge against them. And also, they are one of our friends here in M3."
Onic PH asserted its dominance over the Singaporeans, erecting a 2-0 cushion before RSG gave the Filipinos a run for their money in Game 3. RSG was able to establish a 19-10 kill spread but Onic roared back behind the late-game heroics of Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol
They were able to wipe out RSG to complete a sweep of the game.
But although their game seemed perfect, Dlarskie said there will be no room for any complacency as they eye to bring home the trophy to the country.
"I am very happy but we should not be complacent because both of our next possible opponents are strong."
Kairi added: "Maybe, we’ll prepare more for our next possible opponent, RRQ or Todak, because every opponent is different in terms of their game play so what will happen in every series will also be different. We have a lot of things to prepare."
RRQ and Todak battle later tonight in a best-of-five series where the winner faces Onic PH while the loser drops to lower bracket.
