Is Blacklist International the 'Indonesian slayer'? Coach BON CHAN says 'so far, it's true' in M3

SINGAPORE—Blacklist International was in dominant form against Indonesian powerhouse team RRQ Hoshi, 3-0, as they advanced to the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M3 World Championship lower bracket semifinal round here.

And that allowed the Codebreakers to show the door to a strong Indonesian contender for a second time this tournament.

Blacklist stumbled in the first round of the upper bracket playoff in a forgettable performance against North America's BloodThirstyKings (BTK).

But that sent them to the lower bracket and a highly-anticipated face-off against another strong team in Onic Esports of Indonesia.

The Filipinos won that match, eking out a 2-1 decision which formally eliminated Onic Esports from the tournament.

Add that to today's result and Blacklist has begun to build the reputation of "Indonesian slayer".

Asked if they can call themselves that title, Blacklist head coach Kristoffer "BON CHAN" Ricaplaza acknowledged that it has at least been true so far in the ongoing world championships.

"I think it's the same when they entitled Manny Pacquiao the Mexican killer," said BON CHAN in the post-game press conference.

"It's the same for us. But so far, it's true. Sorry for this statement, but we brought them home."

It was not RRQ's first loss to a Philippine team in the M3 as they previously also suffered a sweep to Onic Philippines, 3-0, which sent them to the lower bracket.

Blacklist, the back-to-back MPL PH champions, will next face either Singapore's Evos SG or Malaysia's Todak but the Filipinos said they try not to pick who they would want to face next and just focus on what lies ahead.

"Personally, if we want to be the champions, we have to beat every opponent because that's the trait of being champions. We should beat whoever we face," Danerie James "Wise" Del Rosario stressed.

"We shouldn't choose our opponents."
