PSC organizes relief efforts for national team members affected by Typhoon Odette

The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has organized a relief effort that will aid the national team members heavily affected by Typhoon Odette.

In a statement, the sports body said it has approved the release of a P15,000 cash assistance for each of the 85 athletes and 20 coaches from 24 sports who were affected by the typhoon.

PSC chairman William Ramirez has also initiated a relief operation that will send around 10,000 bottled water and 900 units of mattresses to the victims.

The PSC partnered with the Special Services Office of the Armed Forces of the Philippines to make sure that the goods and packages will be sent to intended recipients.

"My heart breaks for them. We already have the pandemic and now, typhoon," said Ramirez.

"They are trained to overcome, to survive and to win.  They might be sad for a while but the champions in them will prod them to rise up and help themselves and those around them so that together they can get through this."

Aside from relief efforts, PSC will also give P50,000 financial aid for the rehabilitation of the weightlifting gym in Bohol that was affected by Odette.
