Sofia Frank finishes 14th in short program of ISU Four Continents Championships
Sofia Frank is back on the ice.
The Filipino-American figure skater wound up 14th in the short program of the International Skating Union (ISU) Four Continents Figure Skating Championships 2022 to open her campaign this year.
The 16-year-old ace scored 28.62 points in technical element score while notching 24.12 in program component score for a final tally of 52.74 on late Thursday (Manila time) at the Tondiraba Ice hall in Tallinn, Estonia.
Japan's Mai Mihara topped the category with a total of 72.62 while Koreans Haein Lee, Yellim Kim, and Young You placed second, third, and fourth with scores of 69.97, 68.97, and 67.86, respectively.
Frank, who fell short of qualifying to the Beijing Winter Olympics after finishing 24th in the Nebelhorn Trophy last year, will plunge back into action on Saturday, January 22, at around 7 p.m. for the free skate event.
Frank last saw action in the 2021 Santa Claus Cup last December where she tallied 142.91 points to finish 13th overall and book a spot in the 2022 World Junior Championships.
With her qualification, Frank also ended an eight-year drought for the Philippines in sending a female figure skater to the world championship.
