Treat Huey, partner crash out of Australian Open men's doubles after falling to home bets
Filipino-American tennis star Treat Huey and Indonesian partner Christopher Rungkat fell short in their bid to advance to the 2022 Australian Open men's doubles event.
The Southeast Asian duo suffered a straight sets defeat at the hands of home bets Dane Sweeny and Li Tu of Australia, 6-7 (6-8), 4-6, in their second round meeting on Friday in Melbourne.
The loss came following Huey and Rungkat's 3-6, 7-6(2), 6-2 mastery of India's Rohan Bopanna and France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the opening round on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, another Filipino-Australian in Lizette Cabrera and her partner Priscilla Hon got booted in the tournament after a 6-3, 6-2 defeat against Japanese netters Ena Shibahara and Shuko Aoyama in Round 2 of women's doubles.
The match lasted for only one hour and seven minutes.
