Oliveira vs. Gaethje booked for UFC 274

The highly-anticipated showdown between UFC lightweight world champion Charles Oliveira and former UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje is finally happening.

According to a report by ESPN, the match is set to take place at UFC 274 on May 7 at a yet to be determined venue.

Oliveira, the 32-year-old defending champion from Brazil who holds a record of 32-8, is riding a 10-fight winning streak. He is coming off his biggest win to date after pulling off a third-round submission against ex-UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier last December.

The 33-year-old Gaethje (23-3), meanwhile, is coming off an exciting unanimous decision nod over former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler at UFC 268 last November. The fight was touted by scribes and experts as the 2021 mixed martial arts fight of the year.
