Filipino Winter Olympian Asa Miller registers DNF in first run of giant slalom

Filipino-American alpine skier Asa Miller, the country's lone representative to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, started his campaign in the giant slalom event of the Winter Games on Sunday.

Skiing in the snowy terrains of the Yanqing National Alpine Skiing Centre, the 21-year old Miller, however, registered a DNF (Did Not Finish) in the first run as he slipped early in his turn. A total of 54 out of 89 skiers will continue in the second run scheduled this afternoon.

Earlier, Miller posted an Instagram story of the conditions in their competition.

The time for each run will be added to determine the winner of the event.

In his previous stint in PyeongChang four years ago, Miller finished 70th with a total time of 02:49.950.

He will have a chance to bounce back in the slalom event scheduled on Wednesday.
