Blacklist ends run of futility in MPL PH S9 with sweep of fellow world champion Bren
Blacklist International snapped a four-game losing skid via a 2-0 sweep of Bren Esports in a battle of world champions in Week 3 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 9 on Saturday.
Blacklist, the M3 world champions, engaged the M2 world champions in a dogfight but came through in the decisive clashes to score their first win of the season while sending Bren to their fifth straight loss.
In Game 1, Blacklist came out on top of the early skirmishes and took a 9-4 kill lead but Bren countered by taking the first lord of the match as the game came to a standstill.
The two-time MPL champions finally broke through in the 17th minute with a decisive luminous lord take then leaned on Kiel "Oheb" Soriano's (Clint) triple kill to score a 5-0 wipeout in the 23rd minute, 1-0.
Oheb finished with a perfect 8-0-4 KDA in the opening win.
It was a similar story in Game 2 as both teams engaged in a nip-and-tuck affair in the early goings until Blacklist took a 4-1 exchange in a 10th minute lord fight to take control.
They followed it up with another 4-1 tradeoff in the 12th minute courtesy of an Oheb (Beatrix) triple kill but could not finish off their rivals as Bren held on with another clutch lord steal in the 14th minute.
Blacklist needed a crucial lord take in the 24th minute to finally dispatch the pesky Bren side and complete the sweep.
