Omega completes reverse sweep of Blacklist, sends defending champs to 6th season loss
Omega Esports added to Blacklist International's season woes with a masterful 2-1 win in Week 4 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 9 on Saturday.
The two teams once again engaged in a lengthy series that resulted in Omega taking their third win in the last four matches, increasing their points total to 6 points on a 3-3 win-loss card. Blacklist, meanwhile, suffered their sixth loss in seven matches.
In Game 1, the defending champions relied on their macro strategies to slowly but surely choke up Omega's map control. They secured the critical objectives in the early game on the way to taking a 6k gold lead on top of a 4-0 kill lead by the 9th minute.
Although Omega managed to hold on and defend against multiple marching lords, Blacklist's game stayed perfect and took a 19th minute opening win with a flawless 9-0 kill tally.
Kiel "OHEB" Soriano (Beatrix) delivered for the Tier One-backed squad with a 6-0-1 KDA, including a crucial pick off on Patrick James "E2MAX" Caidic (Yve) in the final minute that led to the luminous lord take and the winning push.
But like their previous matchups going the distance dating back from the MPL Philippines Season 7 Grandfinals, Omega forced a decider after a dominant Game 2 with Dean Christian "Raizen" Sumagui (Ling) and Kelra (Claude) taking charge.
The duo combined for a 9-1-7 KDA KDA to lead Omega 13-5 kill spread in 18 minutes.
With the series on the line, Blacklist opted to go with their signature Estes while targeting Raizen in the draft.
It didn't matter though as Omega opted for their late game potential and veered away from team fights until the late game when Kelra (Beatrix) completed a 15th minute savage to cap off a 5-0 wipe out for the series win.
The former MLBB Southeast Asian Cup MVP finished with a monstrous 8-0-1 KDA, spearheading Omega's late game rampage as they reversed a 4-3 deficit into a 10-4 kill tally.
