Folayang drops Parr en route to winning legends showdown at ONE: X
SINGAPORE — Former ONE lightweight world champion Eduard Folayang of Team Lakay emerged victorious in his legend versus legend bout against ten-time world champion John Wayne Parr at ONE: X on Saturday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Parr pressed forward from the opening bell which allowed Folayang to unleash his signature wushu kicks and counter-left hook. Folayang mostly circled the cage, laying traps for Parr which paid dividends in the scorecards.
Folayang was brimming with confidence in round two as he landed his roundhouse kicks before catching Parr with a right hand that dropped him. Parr fought with urgency but was getting timed over and over with Folayang's patented wushu striking.
A desperate Parr caught Folayang with a knee that gave a brief moment of scare to the Filipinos in attendance until the Filipino caught Parr with a right hand that stopped the Australian in his tracks.
All three judges saw the fight for Folayang after three three-minute rounds, winning his Muay Thai debut while Parr retired with a 99-36 record.
