Angela Lee submits Stamp Fairtex to retain ONE world title at ONE: X

SINGAPORE — Reigning ONE women’s atomweight world champion Angela Lee made a fifth successful defense of her gold-plated strap following a second round submission over Stamp Fairtex at ONE: X this Saturday evening at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Lee surprised Stamp in the opening seconds of round one as she went off the gate swinging. Stamp remained composed and went to the body that badly hurt Lee, prompting the latter to shoot for a takedown.

Lee tried to get a submission while on the mat but found no immediate success in doing so. Lee then went for another takedown in round two then tried both a triangle and an armbar.

Drowning in the grappling department, Stamp made the crucial mistake of giving her back that allowed Lee to lock her up in a rear-naked choke to force a tap at the 4:50 mark of round two. The win improved Lee’s MMA record to 11-2 while Stamp dropped to 8-2.
