Omega continues final four streak with sweep of super team Echo
Omega Esports delivered in the clutch once again, mounting comebacks one after the other to take down Echo, 3-0, and reach the final four of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 9 on Thursday.
The MLBB Southeast Asian Cup champions continuously struggled in the early game all-series long but secured the necessary objectives when it mattered, including a clutch play from by Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog in Game 3 to eliminate the Season 9 super team.
Ch4knu is making his sixth appearance in the final four. He hasn't missed the Top 4 since his entry to the MPL in Season 4.
The "Comeback Kings" stayed true to their moniker as they shrugged off their early game struggles in the opener and leaned on Duane "Kelra" Pillas (Wanwan) to score the turn around starting with a triple kill in a 9th minute lord fight.
Kelra continued with the rampage scoring another double kill in the 11th minute to completely control the match. He finished with a 7-4-4 KDA to spearhead Omega's 11-minute victory.
Game 2 was no different as Echo dominated the early game with an easy 3-0 kill spread in the 2nd minute courtesy of Karl "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno's (Dyroth) 3-0-0 KDA but Kelra (Wanwan) once again carried Omega on his back.
He opened the fightback by scoring three kills in the 7th minute, including a massive outplay on Frediemar "3MarTzy" Serafico (Paquito) in a midlane skirmish, then scored a pick off on KarlTzy in the 16th minute to take the luminous lord.
Not even a clutch luminous lord steal by Jankurt Russel "Kurtzy" Matira (Xavier) in the 20th could stop the bleeding as Omega easily fended off the marching lord and secured the next luminous lord to go up 2-0, capped off by Renz Errol "Renzio" Cadua's (Masha) savage killing spree.
In Game 3, Omega overturned a 14th minute 8k gold deficit courtesy of a clutch fatal links execution from Ch4knu (Atlas) in the 22nd minute, boxing out KarlTzy to secure the final lord of the series and score another massive turn around.
