Carlo Biado, Johann Chua set up all-Filipino showdown in SEA Games 9-ball finals

Carlo Biado and Johann Chua dispatched their respective semifinal foes to set up an all-Filipino gold medal match in the men's 9-ball pool singles finals of the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday.

With the looming clash, the Philippines is already assured of both the gold and silver medals.

Biado bested Singapore's Aloysius Yapp, 9-7, to advance to the final round. The win served as a repeat for Biado after having edged Yapp last September in their 2021 US Open Pool Championship match.

Meanwhile, Chua also defeated another Singapore bet in Lian Han Toh, 9-3, to set up a finals meeting with the 38-year-old Biado.

With Biado and Chua making it to the finals, the Philippines is assured of at least three medals as legendary cue artist Efren "Bata" Reyes has also secured a bronze in the men's one-cushion carom event.
