Olympian Kurt Barbosa wins gold in SEA Games taekwondo action

Taekwondo jin and Olympian Kurt Barbosa delivered another gold medal for the Philippines in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Tuesday night at the Tay Ho Gymnasium in Hanoi, Vietnam.

The 22-year-old Barbosa edged Panachai Jaijulla of Thailand, 16-7, to rule the men's under 54kg. Earlier, he routed Indonesia's Reinaldy Atmanegara in their semifinal clash, 44-42, to advance to the final round.

Barbosa represented the Philippines during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics but had a short campaign after falling to South Korea's Jang Jun in their Round of 16 meeting.
