Shooting, Muay, other combat sports secure more medals for the Philippines


The Philippines continues its medal haul as the conclusion of the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam inches closer.

Hagen Alexander Topacio claimed a silver medal in the men's trap event in shooting, while Carlos Carag took the bronze for the 2-3 finish for the Philippines.

Muay Thai also collected medals for Team Philippines as Philip Delarmino copped a silver in the men's combat 57 kg.

Mauro Lumba (men's combat 81 kg), Fritz Biagtan (men's combat 60 kg), and Ariel Lee Lampacan (men's combat 57 kg) also bagged bronze medals from their events this week.

Vovinam's Zephania Ngaya and the mixed judo team of Keisei Nakano, John Viron Ferrer, Carl Dave Aseneta, Rena Furukawa, Dylywynn Keith Gimena, and Megumi Kurayoshi also secured bronze medals.

Charmaine Dolar added a bronze medal of her own in artistic gymnastics.

As of writing, the Philippines is at fourth place in the overall rankings with 50 gold medals, 70 silver medals, and 100 bronze medals for a total of 220 medals.
