Team Lakay's Jenelyn Olsim earns split decision win over Julie Mezabarba at ONE 158

Jenelyn Olsim of Baguio City's Team Lakay scored a razor-thin split decision nod over Julie Mezabarba at ONE 158 on Friday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Olsim opened the contest with jabs and kicks to the leg and body that found its target. Olsim also scored a takedown twice but was unable to pull off a submission or telling blows while on the mat.

Olsim's textbook striking was on display in round two though Mezabarba also landed some of her own. The Team Lakay representative chose to mix it up, opting to shoot for takedowns between her strikes.

Mezabarba fought with urgency in round three with both fighters landing shots of their own. Olsim scored another takedown and then pinned her foe to the side of the cage where she threw punches.

The female atomweights fought with all they have in the final minute of the contest landing clean strikes at each other until the final bell.

Two judges saw the fight for Olsim after three five-minute rounds, improving her mixed martial arts record to 6-3 while Mezabarba dropped to 9-4-1.
