Omega eliminates Evos SG, secures top 6 finish in MSC 2022
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Omega Esports manhandled Evos Singapore, 3-0, in the lower bracket of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Cup (MSC) 2022 on Thursday.
Mirroring their previous tournament journey, Omega seemed to have flipped a switch after an upper bracket loss with a masterful performance against Singepore's pride. They secured a top 6 finish and arranged a lower bracket semis date across the loser between RSG Philippines and Malaysia's Orange Esports later today.
Omega leaned on Duane "Kelra" Pillas' (Irithel) early game exploits who took a quick 3-0-0 KDA in Game 1 before leading a 9th minute 2-0 wipe to take the lord.
Despite maintaining control of the match, the defending champions needed a 16th minute 3-1 exchange to secure the luminous lord and go up 1-0.
In Game 2, Omega opened the floodgates with a 5-1 kill lead by the 3rd minute that they extended into an 8-3 kill cushion by the 7th minute led by Kelra's 3-0-2 KDA.
The Pakbet-mentored squad then scored a 5-1 wipeout in the 12th minute to take the luminous lord to pull ahead, 2-0.
They dominated Evos SG with a massive 23-7 kill lead spearheaded by Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog's (Chou) 2-0-14 KDA, providing the initiations and pickoffs in the runaway win. Christian "Raizen" Sumagui also performed tremendously in an unlikely Lancelot pick, a hero considered out of the current meta, with a stellar 6-1-10 KDA.
With momentum on their side, Omega, shut down Tristan Christopher "Gear" Nathanael (Lancelot) in the early game, limiting him to a woeful 1-3-1 KDA at the 8th minute to take a 5k gold net worth lead.
Despite 3-1 exchange in the bottom llane for Evos, Raizen (Ling) managed to secure the luminous lord then score a 1-on-1 takedown of Gear to maintain control of the match.
They were made to sweat though as Evos SG held on until deep in the late game, needing an evolved lord in the 23rd minute to finally put away the pesky Singaporeans.
