EJ Obiena qualifies for World Athletics Championship pole vault finals

Filipino pole vaulter and Olympian EJ Obiena clinched a spot in the finals of the World Athletics Championship on Saturday (Manila time) held in the United States.

Obiena was part of the top 12 performers from the two groups of vaulters in the qualification round after clearing the 5.75 meter mark in two attempts.

Prior to the final clearance, Obiena had two attempts for 5.50 meters and cleared 5.60 meters in just one go.

Obiena is set to compete with the likes of record holder Armand Duplantis, and top vaulters Christopher Nilsen, Oleg Zernikel, and Thiago Braz in the finals.

The final round is set on Monday morning (Manila time).
