Lyceum caps off dominant run, captures inaugural CCE crown
Dominant Lyceum of the Philippines University ended another run as a champion after ruling the Collegiate Center for Esports (CCE) Mobile Legends Season 1 on Thursday at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall.
The Pirates, who also won the Varsity Cup last year, swept San Sebastian College-Recoletos in the finals, 2-0, to reign supreme in the inaugural tournament.
Jungler Mark Kenneth "Mark" Delos Reyes showed the way for Lyceum, copping the first-ever MVP plum as they established themselves as a powerhouse team in the upstart league.
Lyceum dropped just two games in the entirety of the tournament, going 9-0 in the single-round elimination stage before going 2-1 against both Arellano University and the Stags in the first round and upper bracket finals, respectively.
But Lyceum made sure to have a clean slate come the championship round with Remarch "LUST?" Eusebio's Claude and Mark's Karina unleashing 6-1-8 and 8-1-7 KDAs , respectively, in Game 1, which they won after 20 minutes.
Lyceum then sent San Sebastian packing in Game 2 as they cruised to the throne after 17 minutes of action.
