Dustin Poirier vs Michael Chandler in play for UFC 281

The highly anticipated showdown between former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier and former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler is close to getting done for UFC 281 on Nov. 12 at the Madison Square Garden in New York, according to MMA Hour.

Poirier, 33, is coming off a failed world title bid against Charles Oliveira at UFC 269 last December where he lost by way of third-round submission. Holding a record of 28-7 as a mixed martial artist, Poirier has notable wins over Conor McGregor, Eddie Alvarez, Max Holloway, and Justin Gaethje.

Chandler, meanwhile, is coming off a potential knockout of the year victory over former ex-UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson. Known for his high-octane style of fighting, Chandler is 23-7 as a pro and has gone 2-2 since signing with the UFC. – RC, GMA News
