VP Sara extends prayers, sympathies to late Lydia de Vega's loved ones

The Office of Vice President Sara Duterte on Sunday extended its condolences to the family of the late Philippine sports icon Lydia de Vega.

In a statement, Duterte's spokesperson Atty. Reynold Munsayac said the vice president offered her sympathies and prayers.

"Ms. de Vega has inspired and will continue to inspire young Filipinos to pursue their dreams in sports," Munsayac said. "She was a shining example of a Filipino who truly loved her country as she put the Philippines on the map of sports worldwide."

Munsayac said De Vega's legacy will always be cherished.

De Vega passed away on August 10 after her battle with breast cancer. Several government officials, including President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. also mourned De Vega's passing.
