Fil-Am ex-UFC fighter John Dodson wins bare-knuckle boxing debut via knockout
Filipino-American former UFC fighter John Dodson showcased the explosiveness he has been known for in his bare-knuckle boxing debut with a knockout over Ryan Benoit in the co-main event of BKFC 28 earlier today at Rio Rancho Events Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The 37-year-old Dodson dropped Benoit, a former UFC fighter himself, twice in the early going of the contest. Benoit made it back to his feet both times only to be on the receiving end of another Dodson flurry that put him away for good with more than 40 seconds left in round one.
Dodson, 22-13 as a mixed martial artist, last saw action in the UFC against Merab Dvalishvili in August 2020 where he lost by way of unanimous decision. He went 1-1 in XMMA after parting ways with the UFC before making the transition to Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
