Bren completes dramatic reverse sweep of Omega to book final four ticket
Bren Esports woke up from deep slumber just in time to complete a 3-2 reverse sweep of Omega Esports in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 10 playoffs on Thursday.
Omega went up 2-0 but failed to find the right closing formula as they suffered from their earliest exit since the roster, then bannering Execration, finished runner-up in Season 7.
Omega played a clean cut Game 1, starting off with a 2-0 wipe courtesy of Renz "Renzio" Cadua's (Esmeralda) double kill that continued with a 4-1 exchanged in the 3rd minute courtesy of Joshua "Ch4knu" Mangilog's (Atlas) three-man Fatal Links set-up.
Not even a shutdown on Dean Christian "Raizen" Sumagui (Karina) in the 11th minute could stop Omega as they executed a clever lord dance in the 13th minute to score a 2-0 pick off and secure the luminous lord.
The MSC 2021 champions did not leave any stones unturned, taking the opener in the 15th minute with a dominant 14-2 kill tally led by Ch4knu's 1-1-13 KDA.
Omega sustained their momentum in Game 2, taking a 4-1 kill lead by the 3rd minute highlighted by Duane "Kelra" Pillas' (Beatrix) 1-on-1 outplay over Marco "SUPER MARCO" Requitano (Melissa).
With Omega posting a commanding 3k gold lead built around a 6-1 kill spread, Bren scored two unanswered kills in the 7th minute to stop the bleeding but Omega responded with a 2-0 wipe of their own in the 9th minute to secure the first lord of the match.
Kelra then weaved his way through a lengthy 13th minute scramble to score a double kill followed by Raizen's (Paquito) triple kill for a 5-1 wipe out and take a 2-0 series lead.
Raizen finished with an almost perfect 5-1-3 KDA while Kelra did not concede any death for a 4-0-1 KDA.
In Game 3, Omega unveiled a surprising Lesley pick in the gold lane but Bren easily stamped their class and controlled the game from the early game owing to Michael Angelo "KyleTzy" Sayson (Karina) and Angelo "Pheww" Arcangel's (Pharsa) resurrection.
The duo combined for an 8-1-15 KDA to force Game 4.
It was Bren's turn to dig in from their bag of tricks in Game 4 picking the jungler Lancelot and a mid lane Gusion that proved deadly during a 6th minute outer turret siege in the mid lane to score a 4-2 exchange and take the lead, negating an early 3-1 kill deficit.
Bren easily secured the 12th minute lord owing to superior map control and a massive 6k gold lead then scored a wipe out in the ensuing base turret invade to to equalize and extend the match into a do-or-die Game 5.
The M2 world champions continued with their resurgence in the rubber match with a 2-0 kill lead late in 2nd minute off turtle fight. They then duplicated the feat in the 6th minute after a pinpoint I'm Offended set-up play by Rowgien Stimpson "Owgwen" Unigo (Ruby) capped off by SUPER MARCO's (Claude) Blazing Duet.
Owgen executed another crucial I'm Offended set-up play in the winding moments to pick off Raizen and Kelra and complete the massive reverse.
