MOBILE LEGENDS

How other Pinoy reps in M4 fared on opening day

While the spotlight is mostly focused on Philippine representatives Blacklist International and Echo, Filipinos watching the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M4 World Championship have more to cheer on than the previous editions of the tournament.

Aside from the two clubs, a number of Filipinos are also competing on the world stage. Here's how the opening day went for them.

Steven "Dale" Vitug won against fellow Pinoy coach John "Zico" Dizon as Myanmar's Falcon Esports beat Cambodia's Burn x Flash.

Dizon was not able to join the team physically, however, as he contracted COVID-19 just hours before the opening day held at the Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.

While it was successful against the Cambodian club, Falcon suffered a beating at the hands of Turkey's Incendio Supremacy earlier in the day to finish the day with an even 1-1 record in Group A.

Meanwhile, hometown bet Onic Esports had a disastrous start after losing to Malaysia's Todak.

Onic, a powerhouse team bannered by its multiple titles, is led by Pinoy coach Denver "Yeb" Miranda and jungler Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol, who played a huge role in their MPL Indonesia Season 10 conquest.

Kairi had six kills and three assists while sustaining three deaths in the loss.

Blacklist had a rousing start earlier with a victory against Incendio while Echo will begin its campaign on Monday, January 2, against Indonesia's RRQ Hoshi at 5:05 p.m.
