Warrant of arrest issued as Nate Diaz goes viral for choking a man unconscious, camp says it was self-defense —reports

A warrant of arrest has been issued for mixed martial arts veteran and former UFC fighter Nate Diaz after footage emerged last week of him choking a man unconscious with a standing guillotine in a street brawl outside a bar in New Orleans, according to reports.

MMA Junkie reported that the incident happened as part of a larger melee, in which Diaz put a man later identified as Rodney Petersen Jr., a trained MMA fighter known for being a Logan Paul lookalike, to sleep.

Diaz's representatives have confirmed they have knowledge of the warrant but said that he acted in self-defense.

“Nate’s attorney, Walter Becker, can confirm that Nate has received word of the arrest warrant, and Becker has been in contact with court authorities in New Orleans,” said Diaz’s representative Zach Rosenfield in a statement forwarded to MMA Junkie.

“Nate’s attorney looks forward to presenting all of the facts about this incident to the District Attorney, which clearly demonstrate that a trained fighter named Rodney Petersen aggressively pursued Nate with the intention of engaging him and once doing so, Nate acted entirely in self-defense. No further comment will be made at this time.”

Diaz, 21-13 as a professional mixed martial arts fighter, is scheduled to face Jake Paul in his professional boxing debut on August 5 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
