All-female Team PHL delegation to attend Cambodia SEAG parade in Francis Libiran-designed barong
An all-female delegation will represent Team Philippines for the opening parade of the 2023 Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The said delegation will have 50 female athletes, and three male members in Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino, chef de mission Chito Loyzaga, and the soon to be named flag bearer.
“This will be a first in SEA Games history as Team Philippines will be represented by an all-women delegation in the parade,” Tolentino said in a statement.
Only 50 athletes are allowed per country to join the traditional opening parade.
The delegation will wear Barong Tagalog called “Araw” designed by renowned fashion designer Francis Libiran.

The creation is made out of Philippine jusi fabric and materials which features an embroidery of the Philippine flag.
The design in the barong represent “every Filipino, showing off their liberty, peace and valor.”
The Cambodia SEA Games will be held from May 5 to 17.
