Robyn Brown unable to advance to World Athletics Championship semis
Robyn Brown was eliminated from the 2023 World Athletics Championship as she failed to advance to the semifinals of the women's 400m hurdles on Monday night in Budapest, Hungary.
The Filipina-American track ace finished seventh in the eight-woman field in Heat 2 after clocking in at 56.83 seconds. Only the top four athletes and the next four fastest will earn a semis berth.
In their heat, Jamaica's Janieve Russell claimed in the top spot with a time of 54.53 while Anna Cockrell of USA (54.68) and Gianna Woodruff of Panama (55.31) emerged second and third, respectively.
The last spot was booked by Canada's Savannah Sutherland after clocking in 55.85 seconds to finish fourth.
Overall, Brown wound up 35th among 41 competitors.
The 29-year-old Brown, who's also the reigning Asian Athletics Championship winner, joined another Philippine bet Eric Cray who bowed out of contention early.
Cray also failed to make it to the semifinals after a similar seventh place performance in the heats on Sunday.
This leaves EJ Obiena as the only hope for the Philippines in the tournament. The world no. 3 ace will compete in the men's pole vault qualification round on Wednesday.
