Stephen Loman preparing to absorb John Lineker's power punches

Stephen Loman of Team Lakay is preparing to be on the receiving end of John Lineker’s power punches when they lock horns inside the cage on the undercard of ONE Fight Night 14 on September 30 at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Lineker, 36-10 as a professional mixed martial artist, is notorious for having knockout power in both hands. Loman realizes that it is a threat that he would have to deal with and is doing everything he can to be able to absorb or neutralize his foe's greatest strength.

“He throws heavy punches so I have to be focused and be defensive. I am training my head and body to absorb his punches. I also have a game plan for him so I do not have to take those punches,” Loman said in an interview on Sparring Sessions.

“I see Lineker as a knockout puncher. He has heavy hands and uses boxing as his bread and butter.”

Loman, 31, is a former Brave CF bantamweight champion and is the no.2 rated bantamweight in ONE Championship. He was originally slated to face Lineker when he joined ONE Championship in 2021 but the fight was canceled after he got infected with COVID-19.

For Loman, his upcoming fight with Lineker is unfinished business.

“I was supposed to face him in my [ONE] debut but it did not happen. This is an opportunity to showcase my skills against him. This is the time,” Loman stated.
